Addtional Information

King Hussein/ Allenby Bridge:

The Allenby/ King Hussein Bridge is the closest border crossing to both Jerusalem and Amman, located approximately between the capital Amman and Jerusalem. It crosses the Jordan River and connects Israel/ Palestinian Territories with Jordan. Since it crosses into the occupied Palestine Territories, and Palestine is not an independent state, it is an unofficial border. The Jordanian authorities do not grant entry visas to foreign passport holders at this crossing, in contrast to border crossings with Israel. Tourists who wish to travel to Jordan must be in possession of a visa from Jordan in advance. Those who leave Jordan via the Allenby Bridge may return by showing the exit visa.

Please note:

  • Each passenger may bring one piece of luggage, if you have excess luggage, please book a larger car. For example, if you are a group of 3 passengers, and you have 4 pieces of luggage, it is better to book a 7-seater car that can accommodate you and your luggage comfortably.
  • The transfer time from Amman to Jerusalem is approximate, the exact duration will vary depending on the time of day, passport formalities, how busy the border, and traffic conditions.
  • The rate does not include any stops.
  •  In Israel , in some cases a vehicle with a taxi badge may be used; these are not used as Public Taxis, only as tourist.
  • Unaccompanied minors cannot take a transfer.

FAQ

Seven days a week, year-round, except Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) when Israeli government facilities are closed, and the first day of Eid El-Adha (Muslim Feast of Sacrifice) when Jordanian facilities are closed
On Sunday through Thursday: 08:00 am to 23:30.
On Friday and Saturday: 8:00 am to 15:30 pm.
Operation hours may also differ on other Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and national holidays. As various holidays approach, it is recommended to check the terminal’s operating hours. For Jewish holidays, you can find the operation hours here On the Jordanian side, the operation hours for holidays are usually announced at very short notice. When making your travel plans, keep upcoming holidays in mind, and be prepared to be flexible.
We recommend being at the border about 60 minutes before its closing time

You will expect different fees when crossing the border, e.g., for transport between the border terminals (Standard Shuttle or VIP Service), taxes or visas. Please note that these fees are not included in the price for the transfer.

Please note that Jordan requires you to pay an exit tax when you leave the country. Border terminal exit tax per person: 10 JOD (approx. 15 US$).

At the Allenby/ King Hussein Bridge, you have to take a shuttle bus to cross the space between the border terminals.

The Israeli authorities determine the right of entry into Israel/ Palestine territories since it controls the entry and exit at all borders. Americans, Canadians and citizens of most western countries do not need a visa to come to Israel. On entry, visitors are granted leave to enter for a period of up to 3 months.
If you are required to apply for a visa in advance you should apply for your visa in your country of origin or at any Israeli Embassy.

Since January 2013 a pilot scheme has been introduced whereby visitors are given an entry card instead of an entry stamp on arrival. This card has a scanned copy of your passport details along with your name and date of entry. You should keep this card with your passport until you leave. This is evidence of your legal entry into Israel and may be required.

The VIP Service is a provision run by the staff at the borders to enable faster crossing. The service includes “VIP” waiting rooms, assistance with immigration, security and luggage; plus, a private van shuttle between the terminals. Usually, clients go to the front of any queues. The VIP service can save lots of frustration, speed up the crossing considerably (especially when the border is busy) and allow it to be done more comfortably. Crossing from Jerusalem to Jordan, using the VIP service means you normally get through the border in 1 hour (without, it can be up to 4 hours on a busy day). Please note, the VIP service doesn’t mean you get less checks, and you still may have to wait if the authorities want to ask you any questions. Please let us know if you would like to use the service, as this affects the timing of the onward transportation
